G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue 12 was published by IDW Publishing.

The Joes in Olliestan discover Cobra, the Blue Ninjas and Red Shadows are all working together to develop a massive robotic weapon. At the Pit, Serpentor is tested in combat against three remote-controlled Joe tanks and destroys them using the firepower of Project Mongoose’s giant robot. In Japan, Storm Shadow, Raymond and Granny Demon destroy a Blue Ninja operation. Throwdown climbs aboard the giant robot as Serpentor summons it back to the Pit. Snake Eyes tackles Serpentor with a live grenade, killing them both. Throwdown is badly burned while destroying the robot from the inside and he takes up Snake Eyes’ discarded mask to protect his face. Throwdown has been left disfigured and muted. Hawk asks Sean to fake his death and assume Snake Eye’s identity, lest Cobra learn Snake Eyes was killed. As Snake Eyes, Sean goes to Snake Eyes’ cabin with Scarlett. Cobra sends Night Creepers to attack them but a squad of Joes helps Sean win the fight to encourage Cobra’s belief in Snake Eyes’ survival. The Collins family goes to Sean’s funeral, alerting Cobra of their whereabouts; Firefly blows up the Collins house.
