G.I. Joe Comics Magazine issue 12 was published by Marvel Comics with a cover date of October 1988 at a cover price of 1.50 USD; 2.00 CAD.

The Soft Master intervenes on the mountain and helps Snake-Eyes and Company ward off Destro, Firefly, and Fred I’s attack. The Baroness and Bludd continue to plot to kill Cobra Commander, using Billy as the assassin, as he returns to Springfield alongside the Dreadnoks and Storm Shadow. New Joes enter the Pit to replace some members, as Fred I is replaced by Fred II after Fred I’s death in the Sierras. Ripcord and Blowtorch take Spirit to the mall where they run across Fred II (Spirit believing he is Fred I) having an outing with his new family. Destro shows the Baroness his true face, and stops the plot to have Billy kill Cobra Commander by revealing that Billy is the Commander’s son. Eight of the original Joes (except Snake-Eyes) are promoted to administration and Duke becomes full field commander, as Hawk is promoted to Full Commander and the Pit’s commanding officer. Ace, with Lady Jaye as passenger in the Skystriker has an aerial dogfight vs. Wild Weasel, with Baroness as gunner in the Rattler in their updated jets. Both combatants leave the area, severely damaged but head for their respective bases as a sign of respect for the superb air battle prowess of each other.

Main story credits: written by Larry Hama; pencils by Frank Springer, Rod Whigham; inks by Andy Mushynsky.
