G.I. Joe Comics Magazine issue 8 was published by Marvel Comics with a cover date of February 1988 at a cover price of 1.50 USD; 2.00 CAD.
Storm Shadow has captured Scarlett while she was on a routine parachute drop exercise and brought her to Destro’s Castle as a present to Cobra Commander. Snake-Eyes learns of her capture, and has to sneak in stealthily to rescue her. During the rescue, we learn that Storm Shadow is related to Snake-Eyes somehow based on both of them having the same tattoo on their right forearms. The Joes begin reconstruction on a better Pit. As they later attend Flagg’s funeral, they’re attacked by the new experimental Cobra jet, the Rattler, but it’s destroyed by Duke (new field commander) and Roadblock. The Baroness is taken to see Dr. Hundtkinder for her severe burns by Bludd. Kwinn is given a private funeral by Snake-Eyes, and we see Dr. Venom’s burial in Potter’s Field. Action Force ventures into Casablanca to help Farouk defect to them from Cobra, but an undercover Cobra agent poisons Farouk, seemingly killing him. The assassin commits suicide to prevent Action Force from capturing him. Using intelligence obtained from Farouk, Action Force storms a Cobra-occupied oil rig in the North Sea, but after capturing the rig they discover Destro is the rightful owner and Destro charges Action Force with piracy. Action Force is imprisoned by Destro while the team is scandalized in the media for their actions. Fortunately, Quick Kick springs a rescue operation and gets the prisoners to safety. Destro meets with the still-alive Farouk in Casablanca, revealing Farouk as the local agent in Destro’s M.A.R.S. organization. The two note the success of their Silversmile worldwide marketing brand and the recent poor publicity Action Force suffered thanks to Farouk’s actions.
