G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue 20 was published by IDW Publishing with a cover date of July 2018 at a cover price of 17.99 USD.
Harada investigates the aftermath of the Red Ninjas’ attack in Tokyo and through his own ninja training accurately identifies how the fight unfolded and Dawn and Granny Demon escaped. Dawn is suddenly taken over by Snake Eyes’ memories and departs on her own. Dawn continues to live out memories of the original Snake-Eyes, recalling one of his Joe missions as she hunts the Red Ninjas through Tokyo. Storm Shadow informs the other Joes about what’s happened to Dawn and the other Snake-Eyes - Sean - joins the assembled party. Dawn silently battles the Red Ninjas, reliving Snake Eyes’ earlier battle with them. Suddenly, the Red Ninjas’ ally Firefly appears. Dawn battles Firefly one-on-one while the police try to catch up. A G.I. Joe team led by Storm Shadow arrives in Japan to aid Dawn. Firefly escapes from the Red Ninja Dojo, Dawn in pursuit. Meanwhile, the Black Major prepares a shipment from Darklonia to Dr. Venom. The Joes catch up to Dawn during her battle with Firefly. Stormshadow helps Dawn and Snake Eyes’ psyche relinquish their thirst for revenge. ‘Budo’ turns out to be Zartan, who disappears with Firefly over the side of an elevated train. Now that Dawn is 18 the Joes invite her to join their team, realizing that having two operatives code-named ‘Snake Eyes’ will help confuse Cobra.
