The Ninja Force Two-Pack Is Classified #223, and Hasbro Has Finally Photographed It

Hasbro said in August that a full product reveal was coming, in its own words, “in the coming weeks.” It arrived this morning on a retailer listing rather than in a press release. Toy News International published seven official photographs of the G.I. Joe Classified Series Ninja Force two-pack, credited to the Amazon UK listing, along with Hasbro’s product copy for the set. The digital render that has stood in since August 19 was the only look anybody had until now.

Two of the new facts are printed on the box rather than written in the copy. The back panel carries 223 across the top left corner, in the spot the Classified line prints its number, so the set is Classified Series #223. The front carries the item code G2047 beneath the age rating. Neither number appears anywhere in the August coverage, and the San Diego panel gave the set a name and nothing else.

Hasbro’s copy counts 21 character-inspired accessory pieces and then lists them. Snake Eyes takes an alternate wolf-masked head, two nunchuks, two claws, a knife, two swords, a scabbard and three weapon accessories. Jinx takes a bow and arrow, a quiver sheath, two swords, two alternate hands, an alternate head and a raven mask, plus a removable feather shawl. The packaging gives her the same full billing her earlier Classified figure carries: Kim “Jinx” Arashikage.

Where the blue went, and where it did not

Snake Eyes’ 1992 Ninja Force figure came with three swords, a knife, two claws, a set of nunchaku and a figure stand, and every last one of them was blue, because the whole lot arrived attached to a single plastic tree and a tree is one shot of plastic. [1] The colour was a manufacturing constraint, but it became the look anyway.

In 2026 the blue is a decision about where the blue goes. One sword has a steel blade and a blue wrapped hilt, and its scabbard is solid blue from throat to tip; the other is steel with a black hilt and no wrap on it anywhere. The nunchaku have blue grips on a steel chain, and the claws are steel throughout. So the blue has been left wherever a wrap, a sheath or a grip would sit on a real weapon, and taken off every cutting edge.

The blue repeats on the figure itself. The chest rig, the belt, the thigh straps, the knee bands and the boot tops all come in the bright shade, and the bodysuit under them is flat black. Turn him round and the blue sword rides diagonally across his back in its blue sheath, above blue holsters strapped to both thighs.

Jinx gets the treatment on one piece only. It is the best piece in the box. Her quiver is a hard backpack panel quilted in the same blue, with a red Arashikage clan sigil printed in a circle at the top of it and a rack of red-fletched arrows standing out of the top. The sigil sits on the quiver rather than on the figure. Terrific piece of design!

What the photographs settle about Jinx

Our August coverage ran on a packaging photo somebody had posted to r/GIJOEClassifiedSeries, then took Hasbro’s render a week later. The thread underneath it spent most of its energy arguing over what the pieces actually were, and the photographs answer that. The red top is a hard moulded piece rather than soft goods. The trousers are a muted purple with a tear-away panel at the right thigh, and the leg wraps are red cord crossed over the calf and finished in a red cuff above black boots. Her right arm carries a tattoo. The raven mask is a separate piece that sits over the eyes with a green stone at the brow, and the spare hood is plain black.

None of it has a vintage source, because there is nothing to source it from. Jinx got one figure in the original run, in 1987, and Ninja Force did not begin until 1992, so she was never part of the sub-line whose logo sits on the front of this box. Hasbro is designing here rather than adapting, and we will take that over another Snake Eyes repaint any day! [2]

The date is firm and the retailer still is not

Hasbro’s August 19 Facebook post put preorders at Friday September 18, 9 AM ET, and Hasbro has not revised that since. Target’s Fall Geek-Out runs weekly Friday drops from September 11 to October 2 with a limit of two units per item per order, so September 18 is one of its Fridays, and Toy News International, Toy Habits and Mephitsu have all now written the set up as a Target exclusive.

Hasbro has still never said the word. It has named a day and a time and left the retailer out of every statement it has made, and the outlets naming Target are reading across from the Scarlett and T’Jbang two-pack, which did run through Target and which collectors in the August thread say Target then cancelled on them. The photographs themselves came off a UK listing, which settles nothing about who sells the set in the States. The inference is a good one, but it is still an inference, and none of the coverage carries a price. [3]

The Jinx you can buy today

There is one other Classified Jinx, and she is the opposite of this one: number 124, the red comics uniform, the blindfold and a single sword. BigBadToyStore had her in stock on the afternoon of September 8 at $22.09 against a $25.99 list, with an add-to-cart control on the page. Whatever happens on the 18th, that one is on a shelf now.

  1. YoJoe’s archive entry for Snake-Eyes v5 records the 1992 accessory complement as three assorted blue swords, a blue knife, two blue claws, blue nunchuks and a blue figure stand, all supplied on one tree. The Ninja Force gimmick that year was a squeeze-the-legs chopping action, which the Classified figure sensibly does not attempt.
  2. Jinx came into the Arashikage story through the Marvel comics of that era rather than through a toy sub-line, and her 1987 figure predates Ninja Force by five years.
  3. Worth keeping straight: HissTank, which printed Hasbro’s Facebook post verbatim on August 19, ran September 12 in its own paragraph above the quote while the Hasbro block it printed read September 18. September 18, 2026 is a Friday and September 12 is a Saturday, so the quoted line is the one that holds together, and Target’s published drop calendar agrees with it.
