G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue 23 was published by IDW Publishing with a cover date of October 2019 at a cover price of 17.99 USD.

In Shazidar, Dusty and Cover Girl’s team meets up with Airborne’s squad as they escort the aid workers and children. The Joes rendezvous with Wild Bill in a C-130 but only two of their three vehicles can board, forcing Cover Girl to abandon a Chenowth full of C-4. When Green Morning rebels stop to collect the explosives, Joystick fires his last drone missile at them, detonating the explosives. Meanwhile in Kansas, Destro and Baroness fight their way out of the Revanche silo but Alpha 001 Prime follows them to the surface. Alpha 001 places Destro and Baroness under its control. Sean is spotted by Cobra surveillance, convincing them that the original Snake Eyes is still alive. Sightline’s new leg contains a tracking device which Mainframe removes, intending to use it to send Cobra false intelligence. On Memorial Day, Storm Shadow and Stalker visit the memorial wall; Roadblock and Duke place flowers on the graves of the dead Joes; Hawk holds a ceremony at the Pit; Darklonian troops stakeout Sneak Peek’s grave hoping to ambush Katya, but she outfoxes them; the Joes at Fort Wadsworth host a barbecue; Scarlett takes a lone ferry ride; at Snake Eyes’ empty cabin, Timber howls at the moon. While Alpha-001 continues placing the Iron Grenadiers under its control, Zartan summons Crystal Ball to a meeting with the Dreadnoks. Elsewhere, the retired Oktober Guard get wind of Cobra’s latest plot and decide to get involved. Snake Eyes and Scarlett stop terrorists from destroying the Statue of Liberty, while Cobra Commander plots to brainwash Snake Eyes. Lightfoot and Lowlight battle Destro and damage his hand; this liberates his artificial hand from Revanche control and he uses it to liberate the Baroness. The Oktober Guard take an airplane out of Trucial Abysnia. Sean celebrates his birthday and Scarlett finds it difficult to see how close he and Dawn are becoming. Zartan gathers the Dreadnoks to inform them of Cobra’s plan to brainwash Snake Eyes, which he intends to stop.
