G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue 4 was published by IDW Publishing at a cover price of 19.99 USD.

Three stories: The Joes go to capture Darklon to gain knowledge about Cobra’s new mind control scheme, with both Lady Jaye and Darklon injured in the process; Chuckles continues to question Sneak Peek about his covert mission into Darklonia; Snake-Eyes, Billy, and Storm Shadow continue to speak w/the Russian Arashikage ninja clan as they reveal their origin before being hit by Blue ninjas. The Joes who have captured Darklon are heading towards the USS Flagg in a severely damaged Tomahawk copter, with both a severely injured Darklon and Lady Jaye. Jaye forces Flint to save Darklon in order to find out about Cobra’s latest plan, and the chopper crashes on the Flagg, but they’re saved by Lifeline and Barbecue on board, and all are ok. Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Billy, and the Russian Arashikage clan face off vs 2 members of the Blue Ninjas, and Billy is lost in that battle, but Storm Shadow swears revenge as he tells the Russian leader to tell him about these ninjas. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow return Billy’s dead body to Cobra Commander and ask him to look into the Blue Ninjas as they plan an assault on them. Sneak Peek visits his mom at a nursing home. Lady Jaye and Flint have a discussion over his actions to save her, while Darklon looks on in disgust. The Joes and members of the defunct Oktober Guard are testing their best tanks in Benzheen for the Emir to buy, and are interrupted as they’re given word of an incoming invasion from Trucial Abysmia by surplus H.I.S.S. tanks of various models. As Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes go after the Blue Ninjas, trouble continues in Benzheen as the Joes and former Oktober Guard square off vs. the invading H.I.S.S. tanks from the next country. Meanwhile, Cobra Commander buries Billy and swears vengeance vs. the Blue Ninjas, and wishes to procure their tech for his own. Destro asks Baroness if she felt anything for Billy while he was alive, but she says no. The H.I.S.S. tanks are defeated, but both the Joes and Guard lose their own tanks as the new governing party takes control, having overthrown the Emir. As Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, and the Russian Arashikage ninja leader square off vs. a robot inside one of the Blue Ninjas’ tech facilities, hoping to gain info on where the Blue Ninjas are, Cobra begins their quest of vengeance as they appear after the battle’s won by our heroes after gaining info on the tech facility. Meanwhile, the Baroness leaves Castle Destro, obviously in pursuit as well of the same ninjas that killed Billy, and at the PIT III, Scarlett is alerted to this by the other Joes there.
